A new design for a new feature

If you have been following me on this site, you’ll notice that what you are seeing now may be the third or fourth looks we have had since I started this blog last December.

That would mean, each design lasted only three or four months. Not that there was something wrong with the old ones. The most recent theme (see screenshot for sample page) ~ with its excellent XHTML validation ~ was one of the best themes we have used, in fact. We have not received any negative feedback that it was not displaying correctly on popular browsers.

Why then did we change themes?

Two reasons.

Firstly, we need more space to showcase our articles. After ten months, we have written a number of articles on topical issues which have been receiving good reviews and excellent SEO results. These include 457 visas, social media for the community, Philippine banana imports, WordPress resources, and also articles to exercise the imagination of our poet-friends that are all demanding to be displayed all on the same page for easy access. Although we have a powerful search engine to retrieve them, still many prefer that these articles or their links be displayed on the homepage.

Secondly, we have opened another section where we plan to write finance-related articles. Obviously we cannot afford to be maintaining two different sites with two different looks, thus we need to come up with a design which can cater to both. Something that is neutral.

Now, you know why we have this new look. Let me know what you think.

Updated 26 September 2009: At the suggestion of readers, we de-activated Fx and moved the few articles in our finance-related section to TECHBUSINESS.COM.AU.
