Romeo (Romy) Cayabyab is founder and publisher of the award-winning EMANILA, a Sydney-based Internet publishing and media company established in June 1998.
Romy is a recipient of the New South Wales Parliament’s First Multicultural Media Awards for Best Coverage of Community Affairs in Australia. As editor and publisher of The Filipino Australian News, he is also a recipient of the Philippine Commission on Filipinos Overseas’ 2012 Migration Advocacy and Media Awards – Interactive Media (Best Website). He was also recognised the Photographer of the Year 2014 by the NSW Parliament’s Multicultural & Indigenous Media Awards. His company, emanila.com pty ltd, is the Inaugural Technology Awardee of Australia’s National Multicultural Marketing Awards 2000.
Romy is active in local, national and international community affairs. He was a Comelec-accredited observer in the May 2010 Philippines’ first automated elections. He shares his Internet media and management experience as well as his insights on the Philippine community in his blogsite, RomeoCayabyab.com.
A CPA by profession, he has specialised in banking and finance, auditing, risk management and IT systems audit. He was a lecturer at the Nepean Colleges (now part of the University of Western Sydney), and University of the Philippines’ business administration college. Romy obtained his BSBA and MBA degrees from the University of the Philippines.
