Lightbox-ing: A new Postie experiment

A reader, Alex G, emailed in to ask how he can have his images display in a lightbox rather than open a separate post page. (Thanks for the query, Alex.)

I must admit I have not considered a lightbox display for images sent from my mobile phone. When I install Postie in my blogs, I custom-configure the image display of the Postie plugin to show only a medium size image (which of course is dependent on your Media settings), and I have disabled an open to display on a separate page by removing the < a href > code line preceding the < img src > code line in the Postie image settings.

I also know that there are certain Lightbox plugins that can smartly detect an image and it does not require a “rel” tag to be activated. For example, for the purpose of this experiment, I will use Simple Lightbox by Archetype. Simple Lightbox 1.6 is still in beta 4, but I have seen it working reliably in my other blogs.

Also, for the purpose of testing Alex’s query, I will temporarily change my Postie image setting to use “wordpress-default”.

Let us see what happens. I will send a new post with an image shortly.
