Last week-end was a long week-end in Australia. It was Australia Day yesterday, January 26 which thus gave our team a very good opportunity to get together and discuss the progress of our website development work.
For myself, I had a quick look at the ongoing design for emanila’s Poetry site to see if we can now open the new pages. In its current state, the new site theme is okay to deploy, but I thought we hold it back for another week to fix some minor bugs.
The features of the new Poetry theme include:
- Drop down menu for subcategories of Tulang Pinoy and Pinoy Verses
- Featured posts with images where available
- Separate list of recent posts for Pinoy Verses and Tulang Pinoy
- Separate box for blogs, updates and announcements
- Drop down Archives
- Drop down Categories
- Clean page for the single post
- Gravatar-enabled comments box which automatically links the icons or pics of commenters stored in their gravatar.com account
The current navigational tools will remain like: Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Top Commenters, Social Bookmarking icons, and RSS subscription boxes.
Here are screenshots of the new pages:

I am now looking at opening the new pages within the next few days. Target date is 1 February 2009.

I like the new look. I think it looks more organized and easier to navigate. Thanks.
Ronald – Thanks for the feedback.
The columnar splits is helpful. The layout reminds me of newspaper layouts which were meant for easy and quick reads.
Joel – Am glad you find the columnar split helpful. Yes, it’s also meant to give equal exposure (almost anyway, for both English and Filipino/Tagalog poems. The new design has not totally solved the issue of the latest posts taking “top spot” but I guess we cannot really do much about that. We’re always on the lookout for better and more efficient layouts. Thanks again.
We have today deployed the “new” emanilapoetry. Like other emanila sites, it’s going to be work in progress from hereon. Please feedback.
