It looks pretty harmless, isn’t it?
Since it does not even contain a web link to a site or to a product sales page, what’s the purpose of this email?
Sure it was not done by people who are just passing their time away.
If your suspicion is that this is the work of Search Engine Marketing people trying to manipulate the display of context-sensitive ads in webmails, then you’re probably right. See that message block in Japanese characters on top of the message box? And see the ads on the right panel? Also, the text ads on top of the message header?
And if your suspicion is true, don’t you think this practice should be stopped? The practice is giving search engine marketing a very bad name, don’t you think?
