The Filipino press club of Sydney

If you need to know, the Filipino Australian media in Sydney is very much alive. It has a media group called The Filipino Press Club of Sydney or Filpressyd which has been in existence for the last three years or so. Loosely structured (in fact, no formal structure at all), the group has operated effectively nevertheless.

Jimmy Pimentel, a professional journalist who works with one of Australia’s largest news groups is the group “moderator.” Among Filpressyd’s members are writers, journalists, publishers and artists. For 2009, the group is planning to hold regular workshops and other activities. More informatin about this group when I get the chance to join in one of the group’s workshops and meetings.

TheFilipinoAustralian website is going from strength to strength, and it’s giving our Filipino-Australian community a respectable image in the eyes of the world.

I look forward to seeing the site get even better in 2009.
